My sister and I started drawing our own genealogical trees in 1992, since then we have collected about 800 names on father's and mothers' sides. Having most of our ancestors in the mother's side coming from Switzerland and Europe, we did not consider this side as a priority. This is due to the fact that it will be easy for us to improve our mother's branch later. Our father's side is relatively more complicated as we could not obtain too much information from our family. Also our ancestors coming from Morocco did not leave us any written information, except 'ketouba' (wedding contract) from my grand parents. Genealogy is not something you can do in a continuous way, but sometime if you want to go further you have to be ready to face an important amount of work. We got stuck during our research by having missing information from Morroco. Therefore we decided to continue our work directly in Essaouira / Mogador. The target was simple : to check if one or more of our ancestors was /were buried in this city. The name of this city was the only indication regarding my grand father's origins. The result of our finding is what we propose to you on this website that is, a complete online inventory of the two cemeteries. We hope that this input will be of some use for all genealogists around the world. Our next intention is to pursue a similar survey in the city of Fes.
